What we are looking for
As part of the bioinformatics team, the Bioinformation’s core activity is maintaining, deploying, and running the GEiGS® BioCompute software (https://www.geigs.com/). The GEiGS® technology uses genome-editing to redirect RNA-silencing genes (e.g. miRNAs) to novel targets, including pests and pathogens, to develop disease-resistant plants and novel traits! In terms of maintenance, this will include QA testing and implementation of improvements. Deployment consists of preparing code and data ready to run on the cluster. Running GEiGS® BioCompute involves monitoring and troubleshooting live running instances of the software. In close contact with the Project Managers who provide the run input details and the GEiGS® Biologists who perform the output QC, the Bioinformatician plays a pivotal role in delivering high-quality data on time.
We are looking for someone with an engineering mindset: someone who is used to monitoring the progress of complex processes, who pays attention to detail, identifies problems, and is persistent in investigating anomalies.
