What we are looking for

We are looking to recruit a research scientist in our Discovery team who will be responsible for the delivery of the IITA project experimental work. You will plan and execute all experiments with the assistance of a technician. The role will require production of detailed experimental analyses, presentation of results, and planning next steps in the project. You will be responsible for meeting project milestones with the help of the team.

Qualification, knowledge, and key skills

  • You need to hold a PhD or have extensive relevant experience. You will have a proven track record of working with transgenics – ideally in plants, but not necessarily required. However, experience with plant regeneration from tissue culture is highly desirable.
  • You will be a strong molecular biologist with cloning experience, and ideally CRISPR experiment design and execution experience.
  • Experience in working with HDR/HR repair pathways is desirable, but not essential, as is working with challenging crops/species – such as those with poor transformation or regeneration efficiency.
  • Data analysis and statistical knowledge is desirable to handle large numbers of samples and test conditions.
  • Any experience with novel technologies to facilitate gene editing, or HDR/HR is also desirable.
  • You will be joining a strong team of plant biotechnology and molecular biology experts, and will receive any training necessary to complete this project.
