What we are looking for

The Company is looking for a skilled Researcher to join the Discovery team to lead the delivery of key technology projects. You will join a team of skilled professionals and add your own experience to facilitate delivery on several key genome-editing technology-based projects.

You will be the technical lead scientist for project(s) relating to genome editing technology. Initially working on optimizing non-transgenic genome editing technology in banana. You will plan, execute, and report on experiments with the support of a technical team. The role will require production of experimental analyses, presentation of results, and planning next steps in the project. The role will involve supervising and planning work for a small group of technicians. All data must be presented and reported to key stakeholders in the company, so communication skills are essential for this role.

Requirements

  • Experience of plant regeneration from tissue culture is desirable.
  • The right candidate will be a strong molecular biologist with cloning experience, and ideally CRISPR experimental design and execution experience.
  • Precise molecular characterization of genome edits is required for this role, therefore experience with DNA sequencing, sequencing data analysis and computational biology is desirable.
  • We test and implement novel technology and technical improvements in our plant genome editing and production pipeline, so any other relevant knowledge or skills are highly desirable.
  • Data analysis and statistical knowledge will be useful to handle large numbers of samples and test conditions.
